On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, FairBuilding Network visited one of iHome Greater Metro Manila, Inc.’s (iHome GMM) latest housing projects in Napindan, Taguig. This project is part of iHome GMM’s mission to provide affordable, quality homes to low-income families in the region.
The housing development consists of 18 units, 8 of which have already been awarded to their beneficiaries. The first floor is dedicated to persons with disabilities (PWDs), reflecting iHome GMM’s commitment to creating accessible and inclusive living spaces. Beneficiaries include members of the Visually Impaired Brotherhood with Excellence Services (VIBES) Cooperative, Inc., and other PWD groups.
iHome GMM, previously known as Greater Metro Manila Habitat for Humanity, Inc., is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to offering socialized housing to underserved communities in Greater Metro Manila. Their vision extends beyond just housing; they aim to help build self-reliant, empowered communities.
This current project in the rapidly urbanizing area of Taguig City serves as a testament to their ongoing efforts to address the housing needs of vulnerable groups. Two FairBuilding Network partners have made key contributions to this initiative. Bticino donated essential switches and outlets, while UpSkills provided grout and metal cleaners.
The visit allowed FairBuilding Network to witness firsthand the impact of collaborative efforts in bringing affordable housing to those in need, especially PWDs, and explore future partnerships to support similar community-driven initiatives.
